    Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers

    Posted on July 29, 2023July 28, 2023 by SallyAltass

The entire, steamy series in review…

I’ll admit, I came to this exceptional series of books rather late; not until the final book was due to be released Slaying the Shadow Prince by Helen Scheuerer. But, I am glad I eventually came across the series, because it introduced to me to new worlds and new authors. Admittedly, I enjoyed some books more than the others, but alas, not all books are created equally. But now that I’ve read the series in its entirety, I’m going to do you all a favour and rate them from worst, to best.

    5. Slaying the Frost King
    Candace Robinson and Elle Beaumont
    🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

Although this book started off exquisitely, the style, tone and overall writing kind of fell apart a few chapters in. The writing seemed disjointed, almost as though the authors both forgot key parts of information that a new time reader of their work wouldn’t know.
This is the third book in the Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers series.

    4. Slaying the Naga King
    Jessica M. Butler
    🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Again, this book started off incredibly well, with Butler paying particular attention to world-building; even if most of the action took place on a different world from where the story began. That’s kind of where I got lost. The story was slow to build and took a long time to get to the point. It’s definitely plot driven, but again, I think Butler forgot that not everyone who came across Slaying the Naga King would have read of any of her TueRahverse.
This is the fourth book in the Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers series.

    3. Slaying the Shifter Prince
    Clare Sager
    🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Now, it gets difficult to actually separate the other three books. But, separate them, I must. I’m putting Slaying the Shifter Prince in the middle spot because, although absolutely insanely brilliant, it’s slightly less plot oriented than the top two books. There’s a lot of sex in this book. And I mean a lot.

    2. Slaying the Vampire Conqueror
    Carissa Broadbent
    🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Separating the top two was merely based on the fact that I’ve never read Broadbent’s work before – although this is something I’m hastening to remedy as soon as my current pile of reviews are completed. I absolutely fell in love with the world of Sylina, the blinded assassin. And I fell in love with her, too.

    1. Slaying the Shadow Prince
    Helen Scheuerer
    🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Of course, Slaying the Shadow Prince was going to be my favourite book from this amazing, steamy series. The story is perfectly balanced between plot and sex; with the world of Naavra already familiar to me, it became an easy and comfortable world to slip into. Almost like sliding into your favourite booth at the inn.
