For the past year, Althea Zoltaire has been roaming the midrealms in pursuit of the man she thought she loved, and who loved her in return. Wilder Hawthorne’s betrayal at the battle of Notos had shaken her to her core; and now, she was fast approaching the deadline etched in the Fate Stone around her neck. With only her anger fuelling her, she was determined to catch up with the fallen Warsword and make him pay for his crimes. But, was everything quiet as it seemed to be? Or would Thea find her world turned upside down again?

*Although Vows and Ruins has been out in the world for a week, I’ve been poorly with the flu, so haven’t been able to even write the review until now.

Thea Zoltaire has passed the Initiation Test, and is now a fully fledged Guardian of the Mid-realms, along with her friends Kip and Cal. She’s only one step away from achieving her dream of being a Warsword. But there are still too many obstacles in her way; namely, the revelation that along with her sister, Wren, she’s one of the lost princesses of Delmira with powerful Storm Magic.

The entire, steamy series in review…

I’ll admit, I came to this exceptional series of books rather late; not until the final book was due to be released Slaying the Shadow Prince by Helen Scheuerer. But, I am glad I eventually came across the series, because it introduced to me to new worlds and new authors. Admittedly, I enjoyed some books more than the others, but alas, not all books are created equally. But now that I’ve read the series in its entirety, I’m going to do you all a favour and rate them from worst, to best.

Set around six months after the fall of Naavra, Talemir Starling and Wilder Hawthorne are sent back to the doomed islands to investigate reports of someone or something tampering with the source of the magical Naarvian Steel that all Warsword blades are made of. Their intent is to find the wayward son of the Forge Master and to kill him to stop the degradation of the blades. But are stopped in their tracks when they realise that they are hunting the very ranger they’ve just fought off a bunch of wraiths with – the fierce and beautiful Drue Emerson.
