I know, I know. It’s almost the end of September, and I’m only just getting around to posting my favourite August reads. August is ridiculous in my house, from children being off school, to husband having days off work; there’s always something going on, and I don’t get the time to write as much as I should.
Plus, I genuinely. forgot.
Anyway. Never fear, here are my top books released in August 2022.
- Dreams of Kell – Christopher Mitchell 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
We’re back on the Star Continent with Daphne, Karalyn, Kier and Corthie as Mitchell begins to wind up his epic Magelands series of books. And, my word, is it good to be back. Completely enthralling and full of the usual foul mouthed, whiskey quaffing, smoking Holdfasts. Bravo. - The Oasis Deception – Heidi Catherine and Tamar Sloan 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
Book two of the Original of the Thaw series from these Aussie authors, and yes, it was better than the opener. I’d even go as far as saying it was better than the original series. - Eye of the Storm Lord – Laurel Colless 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
A book with a conscience, attempting to nudge pre-teens into caring more about the environment. - Marked Angel – Tamar Sloan 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
In the ever expanding Keepersverse we follow the oldest pairing, half-angel Gabby and the demon, Colt, as they try to mend their relationship while battling evil. - The Dragon’s Erf Series – S R Langley 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Published posthumously, this series is one that only gets better and better as we follow Roger and Mary trying to save the baby Dragon Prince. - Revenge of the Reds – Moriah Smith 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Society is split into colours, or more accurately, the colour of the magic you can do. Pinks are maligned by the Reds, who gather up lone Pinks and enslave them. - A Thread of Shadows – CC Adlington 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Be careful whom you may scorn; they may well send your child off to another reality in the hopes of killing him.
So, there we are. My top seven. Which is really a top ten, because there are actually three Dragon Erf books…

Some of these books were received through Reedsy Discovery, and some were sent to me directly from the authors.
